Rivers to Ridges: Building Climate Resilience in Northeast Iowa

Register for event

Event Info

The work that is happening to protect the environment in rural Northeast Iowa is essential — even if it isn't always easy. Resources are tight, the challenges are real, and it can feel isolating. Despite this, organizations like yours that represent frontline, rural communities are dedicated to working on climate, conservation, and environmental health and justice, and trying to do more with less.

That’s exactly why we’re excited to invite you to the first-ever Rivers to Ridges: Building Climate Resilience in Northeast Iowa convening.

Join fellow environmental advocates from across our seven-county region to have conversations, build connections and share a meal. Our goal is to create a space where you can build and enhance relationships with people who truly get what you're up against.

What to Expect

  • Meet others doing this work across Allamakee, Clayton, Clinton, Dubuque, Delaware, Jackson and Jones counties.

  • Share what's working (and what's not) in your community.

  • Learn what's happening across Northeast Iowa and the Midwest from partners like Iowa Environmental Council, Clean Energy Districts of Iowa, and Center for Rural Affairs.

  • Explore ways we might support each other and work together.

  • Enjoy lunch on us!

Partner Presenter

During lunch, we'll hear from our partners at the Iowa Environmental Council, Executive Director Sarah Green and Senior Director of Polices and Programs Keri Johannsen. They will share more about their current efforts and present environmental health assessments for each of our seven counties.

And this is just the beginning. We're committed to continuing these conversations and providing real support. We will be listening deeply to your concerns and needs so we can provide tailored support, such as help with grant writing, mentoring and, hopefully, connections with resources and funding opportunities in the future.

Location

The convening will take place at the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque's McCarthy Center, located inside the Roshek Building at 700 Locust St. in Dubuque. The McCarthy Center is located on the second floor and is accessible by stairs and elevators. Free parking will be provided at the Telegraph Herald parking lot, located approximately 2 blocks away. More detailed directions and a map of the area will be emailed to all registered participants prior to the event.
