- Having started in 2018, our core advisory board volunteers and community partnerships have allowed us to put books in the hands of of numerous children from infancy to preK-3 grade. Our collaborative efforts have also allowed us to uplift and promote the roles of family, health, & the joy of reading.
About Us
Every Child Reads Jones County is a part of the national Campaign for Grade Level Reading. Our three areas of focus include: School Readiness, School Attendance, & Learning. Our partnerships exist through our schools, families, community organizations, businesses & community members, as well as other non-profits all with the end-goal of helping children to read by the end of third grade. Our purpose is to help children succeed in school & in life.
Mission
The core of our effort has been to identify opportunities for the communities of Jones County to support our youngest learners. Partnerships with schools (both public and parochial), families, community groups and organizations, businesses, community members, and other non-profits and foundations are critical to our community-based movement. Helping children read proficiently by the end of the third grade ensures success in school & in life.

Every Child Reads Jones County started in 2018 as a response to concerns for the future of young people in Jones County. Community leaders from throughout Jones County were brought together, each with a diverse background, bringing a wealth of expertise to our advisory board & to help support our coordinator.
Our leaders & partners work together to gain a better understanding of the current needs in Jones County related to our mission, our goal, & our focus areas.
Our greater partners include the Jones County Community Foundation, which supports a part-time coordinator. Our efforts are supported by the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, other Campaign of Grade Level Reading communities, & the State of Iowa's Campaign of Grade Level Reading.
