The Manchester Public Library opened in 1903 with the help of a Carnegie grant of $10,000. It is the 3rd oldest Carnegie Library in Iowa still being used as a library. In 1993, the library was added on to, almost doubling the original size. MPL was originally built to provide a free library for all, and continues to achieve that goal.
