Our region is home to 1,559 teachers who work in rural schools.
These educators care deeply about their students and their communities.
That's why we connect them with resources, networking opportunities and professional development, helping them turn their passion for teaching into the biggest asset for their towns.
The Power of Partnership
We are the Iowa Regional Hub of the Rural Schools Collaborative (RSC).
This partnership builds our capacity to support thriving rural communities by focusing on a key driver of small-town quality of life: teachers and public schools.
What We Do
Provide opportunities for growth and networking within the profession and throughout local communities.
Strengthen the profession by funding personal wellness opportunities for educators.
Encourage innovation through resources and connections.
Establish charitable funds.
Establish formal school foundations.
Establish reverse scholarships for teachers who plan to teach in rural schools.
Establish classroom grants to fund innovative ideas.
Lead community discussions regarding the importance of schools in their community.
Partner with colleges to support connection between colleges and rural schools.
Make connections around opportunities for brain health initiatives.
Lead discussions around school safety and school attendance, pivotal topics in our rural schools.
Our Successes
Established an annual summit in the summer for educators to convene.
Provided wellness course for credit, free of charge for teachers.
Provided multiple classroom grants for rural teachers.
Provided school-wide grants for teacher wellness.
Conducted meetings with area superintendents and colleges.
Established reverse scholarships to incentivize teachers to work in rural districts.
