Celebrating Clinton and Camanche’s Voices of America: Andy Sokolovich

The River Bluff Community Foundation is proud to celebrate America’s 250th birthday by honoring Voices of America.
Andy Sokolovich, Executive Director of Grow Clinton, is one of eight regional voices lifted up to share the stories of people who hold our community together two and a half centuries after our nation’s founding.
“What really matters to our citizens is at the heart of the Voices of America initiative,” said Alethea Cahoy, Community Foundation Exectutive Director. “We value every voice as we work with donors, make grants and serve as a trusted convener addressing shared community needs.”
Sokolovich loves to bring people together from all backgrounds to solve problems. He moved to Clinton several years ago and as an “outsider” has been blown away by the amount of local support he experiences. He said, “We merged several organizations, creating Grow Clinton, to spur coordination, shared goals, and more impact. We also created efficiencies and began to gain traction in really changing things.”
He added, “It’s the people that keep us going and honestly the sky is the limit. If we want to grow stronger as a community, we all have to work at getting to ‘yes’. Despite our differences, whether it is religion or politics, let’s solve problems. It’s what I learned in the military and that’s what I love about my job.”
Voices of America events will be hosted by the Foundation and take place this summer. They will feature a six-foot tall American eagle. Look for the table, take a family photo with the American eagle, and help write the story of our community on America’s 250th birthday. Hearing directly from individuals will help the Foundation make decisions on grants and initiatives in the coming year.
