Explore economic mobility in the Dubuque region at our 2025 Data Walk

Do people in the Dubuque region have opportunities to climb the socio-economic ladder? Are we building a place where the next generation can thrive? How does Greater Dubuque compare to other regions for economic mobility?

The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque’s 2025 Data Walk will tackle these questions and others on Wednesday, September 10, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Foundation’s McCarthy Center for Nonprofit Learning, located in the Roshek Building, 700 Locust St.

The public is invited to this free event, where they will enjoy snacks and refreshments while browsing data displays and engaging in thought-provoking conversations with neighbors and Foundation staff.

“What makes the Data Walk so unique is that it brings together community members with different roles and backgrounds to have conversations and share insights about issues that affect everyone,” says Alex Baum, director of advocacy, data and learning for the Community Foundation. “It offers an opportunity for collaboration and analysis that you don’t get from simply looking at this information from behind a desk.”

The 2025 Data Walk’s theme of economic mobility connects with the work of the Community Foundation as well as local nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and government agencies. Data will highlight topics like economic connectedness – how relationships in the community shape people’s ability to thrive – and Dubuque’s household income levels over time and compared to other regions.

Data Walk attendees will have the opportunity to explore economic mobility in depth through charts, stories and conversations with Community Foundation staff and partners. The goal is to create discussion and collaboration around developing innovative, localized solutions to complex community challenges, a primary focus of the Community Foundation’s work.

While the Data Walk is attended by community leaders from the nonprofit, government, civic, social service and education sectors, all members of the public are welcome to attend this free event.
