For our community, forever: Gabriela and Louie Egging

Gabriela and Louie Egging understand that finding success in every aspect of life, from learning in a classroom to being productive at work, depends on one basic human need: having enough to eat. By partnering with the River Bluff Community Foundation for their charitable giving, they ensure their generosity helps feed people in their community forever.
Farming in Washington state during the farm crisis of the 1980s, the couple witnessed many families struggling. When they moved to Clinton in 1998, Gabriela got involved with the Benevolent Society, an organization that provided donated clothing to those in need. Today, the Eggings have created an endowment fund with the Foundation to support addressing food insecurity through Information, Referral and Assistance Services (IRAS), a local nonprofit.
“The Clinton Area No One Left Hungry endowment will provide IRAS with funding to distribute food to families in our community, so no one will have to go hungry here,” says Gabriela. “Regan Michaelsen does an amazing job of serving the underserved and will be able to count on annual distributions from this endowment in perpetuity.”
In turn, Michaelsen, executive director of IRAS, is grateful to the Eggins for their generous efforts to address a critical issue.
“Food insecurity is one of the largest needs in Clinton County,” she says. “The Eggings’ launch of No One Left Hungry is more than just a gift – it is a lifeline, turning compassion into nourishment for those who are hungry.”
The Community Foundation will mark its 20th anniversary in 2025, celebrating two decades of impact on nonprofits and local projects that improve quality of life in all corners of the county. In just the last five years, the Foundation has awarded nearly $55,000 through its annual grant cycle. Its family of funds, including many endowments like the Eggings’, has provided another $266,000 of community support.
The Foundation offers a way for people to take care of their families and ensure their communities are supported after they are gone. Gabriela and Louie join many others who have chosen to preserve a portion of their assets in endowments with the Foundation, supporting nonprofits in the Clinton area. Endowments are invested and will grow forever, paying out a portion of earnings to address community issues, strengthen local institutions, and improve the quality of life for future generations of area residents.
“We see the need as real and urgent,” says Gabriela. “We are excited to inspire others who have a similar passion to join us in growing this endowment.”
