Idea Description
Build a modern, indoor/outdoor sports complex where athletes of all ages come together to compete, learn and develop and that also serves as a regional gathering place for tournaments and other events.
Artist's Statement
Envisioning Connections

The bridge, a stylized interpretation of the Julien Dubuque Bridge, is a symbol of Dubuque and a connection between communities, just like a sports complex would provide. The surrounding geometric elements represent the sports that our community loves to take part in, which help foster friendship and togetherness. Recycled industrial materials, such as perforated stainless steel, steel tread plate and steel rebar, add depth to the piece with different textures and also nod to the resilience of Dubuque to keep building up our community and making things better for everyone.
