Jackson County nonprofits awarded nearly $160,000
The Community Foundation of Jackson County recently celebrated 32 local nonprofits and charitable organizations, awarding them $158,678 from its annual grant cycle during an event at Innovate 120 in Maquoketa.
The annual event celebrated donors, fundholders and partners whose support has helped ignite generosity across the community. The grants awarded will help tackle critical issues, including youth needs, technology upgrades and emergency response.
“We are always excited to award grants in support of Jackson County nonprofits,” says Lori Loch, executive director. “These organizations make our communities great places to live.”
This year’s grant recipients and the projects they received funding for are:
- Community Ambulance Service of Preston Iowa for LifePak replacement
- Andrew Volunteer Firemen Inc. for bunker gear
- Preston Fire Company for a Public Safety ISICS Radio System upgrade
- St. John's Lutheran Church for Preston Manna Center
- Maquoketa Community Cupboard for program needs
- Easton Valley School District for FFA Greenhouse Learning Lab
- Calvary Lutheran Church for mobile food pantry distribution
- Sleep In Heavenly Peace, Inc. for Community Bed Build 2024 Jackson County
- Lost Nation Food Center for program needs
- First Presbyterian Church for food share
- Jackson County Campaign for Grade-Level Reading for Summer Adventure 2025
- Bellevue Bread Basket for program needs
- Vision To Learn for increasing access to vision care at Maquoketa Elementary
- Dolly Parton Imagination Library Jackson County for program needs
- Jackson County Prevention Coalition Inc. for building healthy environments to grow healthy kids
- Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging Inc. for Jackson County Congregate and home delivered meals
- Bellevue Community Schools for empowering the future of trades in Jackson County
- Hospice of Jackson County, Inc. for grief support groups
- Maquoketa Farmers Market for Maquoketa Farmers Market / Maquoketa Community Cupboard voucher project
