Vicki and Gary Spellerberg: For the community, forever

Gary and Vicki Spellerberg believe that supporting organizations that prioritize education, health and strong communities are key to enhancing quality of life in Delaware County. By partnering with the Foundation for the Future of Delaware County for their charitable giving, they are able to ensure each of these areas of interest has their support - forever.

The Spellerbergs have created their own endowment fund with the Foundation to support local nonprofits, and their legacy will continue long after they’re gone. “We hope our estate plan reflects our values of being kind, generous and involved in our community. We value our life in Delaware County and want it to thrive for future generations,” says Vicki.

The Community Foundation will mark its 20th anniversary in 2025, celebrating two decades of impact on nonprofits and local projects that improve quality of life in all corners of the county. Since inception, the Foundation has awarded $2 million through its annual grant cycle. Its family of funds, including many endowments like The Spellerbergs’, has provided another $4.3 million of community support.

The Foundation offers a way for people to take care of their families and ensure their communities are supported after they are gone. Like the Spellerbergs, many have had successful careers or raised families here, and have strong local ties.

Gary and Vicki join many others who have chosen to preserve a portion of their assets in endowments with the Foundation, supporting nonprofits in Delaware County. Endowments are invested and will grow forever, paying out a portion of earnings to address community issues, strengthen local institutions, and improve the quality of life for future generations of Delaware County residents.

You can leave an inheritance to your loved ones, and also leave a legacy for your community.[JD1]  We invite you to consider a discussion with your family about the community you love. The Foundation is here to help you meet your charitable goals.
