Denise LaBuddaChief of Staff
Denise LaBudda developed her passion for strengthening communities after she moved an ocean away from her Midwestern home.
“My husband and I were in the Peace Corps after college, from 1988 to 1990,” she says. “We were in Liberia, in West Africa, and I think that’s where my desire to serve the community really came from.”
Since then, LaBudda has lived her passion in many ways. Now, she will apply her years of experience to strengthening the Dubuque region as she joins the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque as chief of staff.
In her role, she works closely with the Foundation’s board members in preparing for meetings, sharing information about the organization’s work, and providing leadership updates.
LaBudda is a Minneapolis native and lives in Lancaster, Wisconsin, where she and her family have resided since the late-1990s. She previously worked at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where she served as director of ethics and compliance. Prior to her work at the university, she held positions at Kendall-Hunt Publishing.
She has a master’s degree in education leadership and policy analysis from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
She also is active in her local community, where she has held positions on the historic preservation commission and school board. Along with community-building, she is passionate about outdoor activities like bicycling, hiking and canoeing, and she loves to cook.
