Melissa Timmerman
Executive AssistantAsk Melissa Timmerman what brings her happiness, and she doesn’t need to think hard: Doing good things for others.
That motivation to support other people – whether her family members, friends or neighbors – is what drives her work at the Community Foundation.
“When I applied for this role, I thought, Oh, my gosh! This is the job I was meant for!” she says. “It’s the bigger picture version of what I do in my personal life.”
As executive assistant, Melissa provides essential support for the Foundation’s leadership, including President and CEO Nancy Van Milligen and the Board of Directors.
Melissa’s career has taken a number of turns since she graduated from what was at the time Clarke College – now Clarke University – with a degree in business administration. She has worked in banking and lending, and as a real estate appraiser. Her family owns a car wash, and prior to joining the Community Foundation, she served as executive assistant at Mercy Hospital.
More important to her than work, though, is family. She and her husband, Chad, have been married since 2006, and they have three children. Home is her happy place, especially if she is cooking, baking, reading or just lounging in pajamas while watching a Hallmark movie.
