Tim Puetsch

Accountant

“Numbers just come easy to me; it’s always been that way. I can’t explain it. When you get a job you enjoy or like, it’s not really a job anymore.”

Throughout his long career in accounting, Tim Peutch has learned the value of building lasting relationships.

“With a lot of people I’ve done tax returns for, I started with the parents, and now I do returns for their children and even a few of their grandchildren,” he says.

Throughout his career, Tim has worked with large and small corporations, as well as nonprofits, and now he brings his experience to the Community Foundation’s finance team.

Tim grew up a self-described Navy brat, moving around the U.S. and even living in Japan with his family. With family in the Dubuque area, though, he eventually made Eastern Iowa his home. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Upper Iowa University and his MBA from University of Dubuque. He completed his first tax return in 1989 and officially kicked off his career in 1990.

Outside of work, Tim enjoys the outdoors – including taking his pontoon boat out on the lake – with his wife, a physical therapist. He also loves spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Fun Fact

Q. What is an unusual job you've had?

A. I started up a small corporation, because I decided one week I wanted to see if I could do it.
