Dyslexia Services and Resources
Reading and comprehension are critical skills that we use in our everyday lives. For some, reading comes easily, and for others, it can be a challange.
In some cases, dyslexia might be the cause of those challenges. We are working to change their experiences for the better. Thanks to donors and community partners (see below), we are making services like tutoring and screening available in the Dubuque region.
We are dedicated to supporting students from kindergarten through high school. By identifying the root causes of each student’s unique reading, writing, and spelling challenges, we are able to tailor every lesson to their specific needs.
Tutoring and Screening
We are proud to partner with Aspire Academy Northeast to bring tutoring and screening services for children in kindergarten through high school to our community. Tutors are trained in the Wilson Reading System, an Orton-Gillingham method, and work one-on-one in person with students. Tutoring takes place at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Dubuque and the Dyslexia Tutoring Center at Northeast Iowa Community College's downtown Dubuque campus.
