Who Is This For?

Anyone who offers a summer program or activity that engages children in preschool through fifth grade — regardless of whether that program is focused on academics — is welcome to apply.

Priority will be given to those who work with kids who are disadvantaged and/or read below grade level.

What Does It Include?

You will get everything you need to implement fun and engaging literacy enrichment activities into your existing summer programs, including:

  • One-on-one consultations with expert mentors like the Iowa State University Extension Office that will help you develop ideas to incorporate literacy into your existing activities.
  • Five books per child. You will receive support from a Carnegie-Stout librarian who will help you pick from a variety of books to fit the ages and interest levels of your kids.
  • Fun SWAG for you and the kiddos! You'll have enough tote bags, colored pencils, books, and journals for every child.
