About Us
Since the formation of the Friends group in 2001, we have been supporting Jackson County Conservation Board in bringing environmental education and recreational opportunities to as many people as possible. Between bus scholarships for field trips and the creation of a natural playscape at the Hurstville Interpretive Center, Friends of Jackson County Conservation strives to inspire people to understand and care for our environment.

We work with the community to bring people together in nature- pairing with the Family Dollar, we hosted a free fishing clinic where kids could learn to tie a line, bait a hook and try their luck in the water. From the moment lines hit the water, fish were biting and kids were reeling in sunfish and bass most of the morning. Family Dollar provided prizes to ecstatic kids like this one, who won a tackle box for the first fish caught.
