About Us
As volunteers with many local organizations, Dave and Liz Cushman noticed many nonprofits faced a similar challenge. While directors had expertise in the organization's mission, they often did not haveand could not affordtechnology expertise. From outdated hardware to lack of social media skills, this knowledge gap was an obstacle to efficient operations and communications. Foundation staff helped the Cushmans develop their idea into Grants for Tech, an innovative grant program that will fund technology improvements for area nonprofits. The application process will include a technology assessment so organizations can get recommendations from an expert before applying for implementation funding from the program. All 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations in the seven-county territory of the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (Allamakee, Clayton, Delaware, Dubuque, Jackson, and Jones Counties in Iowa and Jo Daviess County in Illinois) are eligible to apply for Grants for Tech funding. Grants will support: -Purchase of equipment -Updates to and purchase of software -Equipment and software installation -Technology training Grants for Tech applicants will also be required to contribute matching funds at either 50% or 100% of funding based on their operating budgets.
