About Us

The Jones Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), created in 1942, strives to help landowners implement conservation practices on their land. Practices such as terraces, grassed waterways, cover crops, rain gardens, and wetlands all help reduce nutrient runoff into the Mississippi River while also preventing soil erosion. The SWCD will help landowners decide what conservation practices will be most beneficial on their land while also providing guidance and financial assistance to make sure each practice is designed and installed to last for many years. Since finances are often an impediment to implementing conservation practices, the Jones SWCD provides many opportunities for cost share funding. Any monetary donations to the SWCD will stay in the community to help conserve the soil, water, and air resources right in our own backyards.
