About Us

Maquoketa High School FFA Alumni are raising funds to build a new Agricultural Learning Center. This new state-of-the-art facility will include: Two Classrooms The new classrooms will be designed to allow hands-on learning in a scientific environment. Adequate storage, lab tables, counter space, sinks, and variable lighting schematics will be integrated into the rooms. Two Multipurpose Labs Animal/Plant/Soil Lab The dirty lab will be used for more than just animals; the lab will be used for machinery and equipment, soils, plants, and all things dirty. This lab will be  equipped with tables, animal restraining chutes, gates, lighting, ventilation, water, etc. Sanitary Lab Sanitary labs will be incorporated within the classrooms. New classes include Food Science, Biotechnology in Agriculture, and Plant Science That Leads to Agronomy. These classes are very lab intensive and require a sanitary lab area in which to complete food labs and biotechnical labs. Greenhouse Plant growth experiments, chemical use, weed identification and much more are part of today's greenhouses, not to mention entrepreneurship. Projected cost: $650,000
