Nellie LeMon was born on October 12, 1917 in Poseyville, In. Like most her age she experienced the financial hardship of growing through the depression during her teen years and living in foster homes Nellie lived simply and learned to appreciate relationships over possessions. She spent her adult life in the restaurant business and caring for people. Her goal was to establish two $5,000 annual scholarships that favored financial need over scholarship. Nellie achieved her wish by establishing two scholarships with the DeWitt Area Community Foundation available in the spring of 2011.
