Mayflower Cemetery is the only cemetery in Oxford Township and is used by all denominations of churches in the area. Early stones of some ancestors are written in the Czech or German language. Often several generations of a family are interred in the cemetery. The community is proud of the appearance of the cemetery and assist to keep it looking well maintained when needed. Following a storm, residents assisted with clean up of broken limbs and trees. Wapsie Legion Post #473 flies the Avenue of Flags for Memorial Day and 4th of July each year, honoring the veterans. In 2015 a fence was erected along the new section of the cemetery with assistance from a Jones County Community Endowment grant.
