Success Story

Anna and Albert Pries lived a good, simple life. Married for 62 years, they traveled together to all 49 continental United States and farmed for more than three decades. Following their deaths (Anna in 2013 at 89 and Albert in 2019 at 100), the couple left their legacy in the form of an endowment fund with the LincolnWay Community Foundation.  The Pries Family Fund for Clinton County Fair and Grand Mound American Legion Auxiliary will benefit the unique charitable causes the Prieses cared about. Gifts to endowed funds are invested and held permanently, providing an annual distribution forever.  Albert served in the United States Army Infantry Division in northern France, Germany and the Aleutian Islands during World War II. He was a member of the Grand Mound American Legion Post #622, and Anna was a member of the Auxiliary. The Pries fund will pay out each year to both the fair and the auxiliary. Most people probably thought Albert and Anna had very little. Albert loved raising good hogs, and he really knew his stuff as he often would win the open show at the fair, said their financial advisor, Roger Hill.  Before his death, Albert visited the new hog barn at the Clinton County Fairgrounds. He could barely hear or see, but he knew where he was. He was all smiles and asked questions, said Hill. When we drew up their trust, we discussed charitable things, and his interest in exhibiting hogs also came up in the conversation. So, I suggested this endowment, and he thought it was a great idea.
