About Us
Veterans Memorial Hospital (VMH) was built in 1950 in Waukon, IA. Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation (VMHCF) was formed in 1982 and Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation Endowment for Education, Recruitment and Retention (VMHCFEERR) was established in 2012. The above entities support continued QUALITY, PERSONALIZED HEALTHCARE in the surrounding area. Veterans Memorial Hospital ENHANCES the lives of those we serve by providing an EXCEPTIONAL healthcare experience with COMPASSION. We strive to be a PREMIER health facility and a LEADER in fostering a HEALTHY community through INNOVATION, EXCELLENCE, STEWARDSHIP and COMMITMENT to the PEOPLE WE SERVE throughout their lifetime. These entities support local Wellness Centers and other local initiatives for better health in the area communities.

Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation Endowment for Education, Recruitment and Retention has provided scholarships, educational opportunities and funds to enhance our provider staff, paramedics, nursing staff, ancillary staff and support staff in a thriving small rural hospital setting. These funds make it possible to stabilize heart and trauma patients, for patients to secure tests, surgeries , wound and injury care close to home. In addition, Veterans Memorial Hospital provides Community and Home Care Services locally so citizens can remain longer in their homes. Donations are very important to provide quality staff and the above services in a rural setting for continued stabilization of patients to transfer to larger hospitals, to heal illness and injury and provide the opportunity to receive this close to their doorstep.
