Allamakee County Community Foundation: Healthy Impact

Veterans Memorial Healthcare Foundation leaders were inspired this past year to make robust plans for their future through the Veterans Memorial Healthcare Endowment to Educate, Retain and Recruit.

The busy hospital in the heart of the Allamakee county seat town of Waukon meets the needs of area residents of all ages. From obstetrical care and emergency room visits to surgical procedures and out-patient therapy, physicians, nurses, and therapists must continually be recruited and educated to deliver state-of-the art care. The annual endowment payout will help underwrite that cost.

The agency endowment fund is an example of how existing foundations in the region partner with the community foundation to create a vehicle for patients and residents to give back, receive a 25% Endow Iowa tax credit, and know they are supporting a healthy impact, forever.

Founding foundation board member Gloria Krambeer said, “I remember our very first holiday fundraiser. We have come a long way since then, and this new endowment is the next exciting step, knowing we are building a strong future for our hospital.”
