Community Foundation of Jackson County Awards $30,000 to Support Jackson County Nonprofits

The board members of the Community Foundation of Jackson County (CFJC) announced the recipients of the 2017 spring grantmaking cycle on Tuesday, June 27, at the Hurstville Interpretive Center in Maquoketa. Grants totaling $30,398 were awarded to the following organizations:

  • Maquoketa Community School District - Cardinal Elementary - $5,000
    Elementary weekend backpack food program
  • Friends of Maquoketa Caves - $4,000
    Educational boardwalk trail
  • Sabula Community Club - $3,358
    New basketball hoops for Sabula's community basketball court
  • La Motte Area Advancement - $3,350
    New playground equipment in La Motte city center
  • Tompkins Jenkins Post 602 - $3,000
    Preston Veterans' Memorial and Walk of Honor
  • Ski Bellevue Waterski Show Team -$2,000
    New water ski jump ramp
  • Calvary Lutheran Church - $1,890 
    Sabula Area mobile food pantry
  • Child Development, Inc. - $1,850
    STEAM summer learning programming
  • Spragueville Community Center - $1,675
    Electrical and energy saving project
  • Bellevue Big - $1,600
    BIG Honey bee population revitalization and awareness program
  • Great River Threshers, Inc. - $1,175

The CFJC awards grants in the areas of Health and Human Services, Education, Neighborhoods and Community Development, Environment; Children, Youth, and Families; and Arts and Culture, including historic preservation.
