Community Foundation of Jackson County Joins Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque as an Affiliate Foundation

The Community Foundation of Jackson County (CFJC) is pleased to announce that as of December 27, 2012, it has joined the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (CFGD) as an affiliate foundation. This new partnership will increase CFJC’s capacity to help Jackson County residents make an impact through charitable gifts to their community.

Over the past 30 years, with the support of dedicated Jackson County community members, CFJC has worked to support a caring and philanthropic county. Building on successes that include improved facilities, increased program offerings and strengthened nonprofit organizations, the board and staff identified an affiliation with the CFGD as a means of ensuring continued growth and opportunity for the foundation and its community.

Since 2004, the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (CFGD) has demonstrated success in supporting the growth of affiliate foundations in Allamakee, Clayton and Delaware counties, as well as the Farley and Dyersville areas. By working with CFGD, these communities have built philanthropic funds in support of schools, churches, health care centers and other needs totaling more than $6 million.

“We are excited about our new partnership with the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque,” says Angie Petit, executive director of the Community Foundation of Jackson County. “After more than a year of study and discussion, we feel strongly that this move will ensure continued success in serving Jackson County residents and the causes they hold dear.”

CFGD will provide investment, accounting, grant making, training and administrative support and philanthropic expertise, allowing CFJC’s staff and board to focus on setting priorities, attracting donors and supporting local nonprofit organizations. In addition, Jackson County nonprofits will now have immediate access to the Foundation Center Online Grant Search Service, a national database of funding opportunities housed at CFGD.

“The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque is thrilled to welcome CFJC to our family of affiliate foundations and looks forward to working with its staff and board,” says Nancy Van Milligen, CFGD executive director and CEO. “Our goal is to help communities throughout Northeast Iowa build strong endowments that benefit their communities forever.”
