Foundation for the Future of Delaware County awards over $95,000 to local nonprofits

The Foundation for the Future of Delaware County awarded $95,356 to area nonprofits through its 2020 grant cycle. Though the annual award ceremony has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, nonprofits will receive checks now to continue their work serving the community.

"Many current needs and activities in our communities are driven by the pandemic, and our nonprofits are working to address those as well as ongoing needs,” said Nancy Preussner, donor connections coordinator. “When our community begins recovering, these projects led by nonprofits will play a role in restoring normalcy and vibrancy to our communities and the lives of Delaware County residents."

The Foundation receives funds each year from the State of Iowa County Endowment Program. Seventy-five percent of the money received is granted out, while 25% is maintained in a permanent endowment with the income to be distributed in future years.

Donors who give to endowments may benefit from the Endow Iowa 25% State Tax Credit in addition to federal charitable income tax deductions. For more information about giving to local nonprofits through the Community Foundation, contact Preussner at ffdc@dbqfoundation.org.
