JCCF Endowment Funds Build Greater Good for Nonprofits, Today and Forever.

Jones Regional Medical Center Foundation, one of the first nonprofit organizations to establish an endowment within the Jones County Community Foundation, received its first endowment gift of $10,000 in 2011.

Since then, donors have helped grown the fund to support the facility and enhance health care in Jones County. Jones Regional Medical Center Foundation receives an annual payout of 5% of the average fund balance to help sustain its important mission. These annual payouts will continue and be a source of support the nonprofit can rely on forever.

“Through donor dollars, the Jones Regional Medical Center Foundation has purchased equipment, funded educational programs, renovated hospital departments, added new services, memorialized loved ones, and more,” says Director Shelia Tjaden. “Our endowment provides a stream of revenue that we can rely on year after year.”

Jones Regional Medical Center Foundation is not alone. In Jones County, dedicated forward-focused board members have established permanent funds for area churches, libraries, and medical centers. This year, these funds paid out nearly $10,000 to provide long term support for ten local organizations.

Agency endowment funds allow nonprofits to safeguard their original investment while building a stable funding stream for the future. As a Community Foundation nonprofit partner, organizations also enjoy additional benefits and resources to help connect with donors and grow the endowment fund.

The power of endowment is in its continuity. Endowments are permanent funds in which the principal is invested while the earnings are distributed annually to the philanthropic cause of your choice.
