LincolnWay Community Foundation Joins Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque as an Affiliate Foundation

The LincolnWay Community Foundation is pleased to announce that as of May 17, 2016, it has joined the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (CFGD) as an affiliate foundation. This new partnership will increase LincolnWay’s capacity to help rural Clinton County residents make an impact through monetary gifts to their communities, churches, schools and other charitable activities. LincolnWay Community Foundation was formerly an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Great River Bend in Bettendorf.

Following its birth in the early ‘90’s as the DeWitt Area Foundation, The LincolnWay Community Foundation, with the support of dedicated community members, has worked to support a caring and philanthropic community. Building on successes that began with the renovation of the Opera House in DeWitt, LincolnWay has support numerous projects for improved facilities, increased program offerings and strengthened nonprofit organizations.  The LincolnWay foundation has grown to include nearly 80 individual funds totaling over $7 Million in assets.  To continue that growth into the future, its board and staff identified an affiliation with the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque as the best means of ensuring that continued growth and opportunities for the foundation and all of rural Clinton County.

Since 2004, the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (CFGD) has demonstrated success in supporting the growth of affiliate foundations in Allamakee, Clayton, Delaware, Jones, and Jackson counties, as well as the Dyersville area. By working with CFGD, these communities have built philanthropic funds in support of schools, churches, health care centers and other needs. CFGD now hosts over $65 Million in rural charitable funds.

“We are excited about our new partnership with the LincolnWay Community Foundation” says Amy Manternach, Vice President of Finance and Philanthropic Services for CFGD.  “We feel strongly that this move will ensure continued success in serving Lincolnway residents and the causes they hold dear.”

CFGD will provide investment, accounting, grant making, training, marketing and administrative support along with philanthropic expertise, allowing LincolnWay staff and Advisory Board to focus on setting priorities, attracting donors and supporting its local nonprofit organizations.

“The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque is thrilled to welcome LincolnWay to our family of affiliate foundations and looks forward to working with its staff and Advisory Board,” says Nancy Van Milligen, CFGD President and CEO. “Our goal is to help communities throughout Northeast Iowa claim a bold future by serving donors, making grants, and convening leaders around important initiatives that benefit their communities forever.”

When you make an endowed gift to the LincolnWay or any of its funds, it will cost you far less thanks to Iowa's generous Endow Iowa 25% state tax credit. For example, after the state tax credit and federal deduction, a $10,000 gift will cost a couple in the 35% tax bracket just $4,000.
