New fund supports future of Hopkinton Library

The Foundation for the Future of Delaware County is pleased to announce the newest member of its family of funds, the Hopkinton Library Endowment. The new endowment will help ensure the continued success of the library for generations to come.

“This is a great opportunity to offer a safe place for donations to live on in perpetuity,” says Gary Besler, president of the library board. “Further, all donations will directly, and solely, be used within our library to benefit our community in a variety of ways.”

Endowments are permanently invested and grow over time, providing an annual source of income for nonprofits and community projects. Gifts of $50 or more made to endowments at the Foundation before June 1 are eligible for the generous Endow Iowa 25% State Tax Credit. In 2022, endowments held by the Foundation for the Future of Delaware County made $167,000 available to support nonprofits’ missions and improve quality of life in Delaware County.

“We pride ourselves on the quality and frequency of the programs we host, and the endowment payouts will be used to bring more of these types of events to our library. When needed, we may also use the funds to enrich our library to make it a more inclusive, comfortable, and/or relevant facility,” says Kim Albright, library director. “We are excited for the immediate benefits this endowment will offer our community, and we are so very grateful to have an option for donors who would like their gift to live on indefinitely.”

Supporting local resources like the library is central to the Foundation’s mission to strengthen communities in Delaware County.

“The Foundation connects donors with the greatest needs in our community,” says Executive Director Amanda Diers. “We offer many opportunities to improve quality of life by addressing an array of local issues.” To learn more about how you can establish a fund or make a gift that impacts your community, contact Diers at 563-880-3816 or email ffdc@dbqfoundation.org.
