Our Affiliate Foundations
Across the green fields and river valleys in Allamakee, Clayton, Delaware, Jones and Jackson Counties and the Dyersville area, committed rural leaders are building local community foundations.
The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque serves a six-county region from New Albin to Sabula to Martelle. Thanks to countless rural leaders, more caring Iowans are creating endowments for beloved causes, making grants that sustain signature missions, and providing community leadership for a strong tomorrow.
As Clayton County leader Kathy Garms reflects, “Quite simply, the Foundation has guided us on the right path, and that is a very valuable opportunity.”
Together, the affiliate foundations support 840 funds totaling nearly $20.5 million. In addition to creating a sustainable source of funding for schools, churches, art centers and hospitals, the Foundation brings neighbors together to claim and define their future, harnessing the power of local philanthropy to accomplish their own visions.
Highlights:
- A U.S. Department of Agriculture grant to the Community Foundation to support Philanthropic Tools for High Performing Communities is now well underway. Leaders in five affiliate communities have completed community conversations and are carrying out work plans to accomplish their common goals with advising and assistance from the Foundation.
- A new partnership with the Orton Family Foundation has provided $120,000 in financial support for the Heart & Soul Midwest Network. The Community Foundation will establish this network of communities, foundations and partners that support and implement Orton’s innovative Heart & Soul community engagement process in Iowa and surrounding communities.
- A $180,000 grant from an anonymous donor is expanding the Dubuque Campaign for Grade-Level Reading to Dyersville and Maquoketa.
