Three Clinton Nonprofits Receive Grant Funding from the  Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque

This year, the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (CFGD) awarded more than $10,000 to three Clinton nonprofits through two CFGD grant programs: Community Impact and Women’s Giving Circle.

Community Impact Grants

Now in its 14th year, the Community Impact Grant program is funded by gifts to the Foundation’s Community Impact Fund. The goal of the grant program is to improve policies and practices affecting the Greater Dubuque community and to have the greatest possible impact. Unlike many grant programs, Community Impact Grants focus on building the capacity of local nonprofits by supporting training and development, collaboration and coaching, research and planning, and operations.

This year, eight nonprofits received 2018 Community Impact Grants totaling $35,920, more than $5,000 of which supported the following local nonprofits.

  • Felix Adler Children’s Discovery Center - $2,300
  • Board and Director development training
  • Council of Social Agencies/ Getting Ahead Program - $4,025
  • The Clinton Getting Ahead Training Expansion

The Community Impact Grant program was established in 2004 and is made possible by donations from community members to the Foundation’s Community Impact Fund. Annual payouts from this endowment fund have supported a total of $451,972 in grants to local nonprofits.

Women’s Giving Circle Grants

The Women’s Giving Circle (WGC), organized through the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque (CFGD), brings together women from all walks of life to learn about community needs and to build the Circle’s endowment fund. Payouts from this fund provide a sustainable source of grant funding to support local nonprofits serving women and children in our community.

This year, the Women’s Giving Circle awarded five grants totaling $14,484; $3,709 of which supported the Clinton YWCA’s rapid rehousing project.

More than $35 Million in Donor-Supported Grants

Community Impact and Women’s Giving Circle grants are two of several CFGD grant programs that, combined with dollars from funds established by donors and nonprofits at the Foundation, has distributed more than $35 million to nonprofits since the Foundation’s inception in 2002, including $5.5 million last year alone.

CFGD also works closely with its Clinton affiliate, the River Bluff Community Foundation, to connect donors to local causes they love. To learn more, visit www.dbqfoundation.org/riverbluff.
