Angela Ventris

Community Grant Writer

“I love working for an organization that embraces new ideas and has a commitment to equity and inclusion."

Creativity fuels Angela’s work – and enriches our community.

Her career spans the worlds of nonprofits and theater. In her professional life, she uses her writing and communication skills to secure grant funding that fuels the work of local organizations and addresses critical needs in the Dubuque region.

When she’s not working, she is immersed in theater and music – and musical theater – appearing in local stage productions with organizations like Clarke University and the Grand Opera House. She also writes a satire column for Dubuque’s 365Ink magazine.

Prior to joining the Community Foundation, Angela spent 10 years working for the Girls Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois in a variety of programming and fundraising roles, and eight years as development officer for Clarke University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Luther College in Decorah and minored in music.

She and her husband are both from Clayton County. They have two cats and enjoy all the outdoor activities the region offers.
